In continuation of the sensitization programme against the spread of Coronavirus in Abia State, the TC Chair of Arochukwu Local Government Area, Mazi Emmanuel Kanu and his team, on Saturday, took the campaign to villages in Abam and Ihechiowa.
That was the last lap of his sensitization programme, which covered the five communities that constitute the council.
The first leg of the campaign took the TC chairman and his team of health workers to Arochukwu, Isu and Ututu communities.
At each of the communities, Kanu and his team preached the message of ethical hygiene, as a defence line against the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
They also demonstrated to residents of those communities how to wash their hands with clean water and soap, and apply hand sanitizer after each session.
As it did in Arochukwu, Isu and Ututu, the team delivered to the people of Abam and Ihechiowa, the message of the State government, which is to form the habit of washing their hands regularly with clean water and soap, avoid handshakes and hugging and above all, adopt social distancing as a way of keeping the virus at bay.
Kanu also told the people of Abam and Ihechiowa communities that the State government has banned social gatherings involving a large number of people, in obedience to advice by medical experts.
He said specifically that the ban on social gatherings affects burial and wedding ceremonies of more than 30 guests.
The ban, according to him, also affects the gathering of more than 50 persons for the purpose of religious activities, for a period of 30 days.
The team also took the message to Ezeogo Atani, Mazi Charles Okoro and Chairman of Starline Farms and Agro Processing Ltd., Mazi IK Onu.
