A Premier League footballer (names withheld) has reportedly been arrested in North London on suspicions of rape.
The UK Police confirmed that a Premier League footballer was arrested on suspicions of rape, saying the player could not be named for legal reasons, but is currently in custody and being quizzed by officers.
According to the report, the player was taken into custody in the early hours of Monday.
The identity of the player, who is currently being quizzed for a sex crime, which he allegedly committed towards the end of June.
This is coming on the heels of similar allegations levied against two other premier league stars – Mason Greenwood and Yves Bissouma – who were arrested last year. The Man United star is still on bail for his alleged rape crime. However, Bissouma has since been declared not guilty of the crime.
The arrest was contained in a statement released by the Metropolitan Police on 4 July, alleging that the yet-to-be-identified soccer star raped a lady in her 20s.
The statement read in part, “It was reported the alleged rape happened in June 2022. On 4 July, a 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Barnet on suspicion of rape and taken into custody where he remains.
“Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
