Abia State Homeland Security Agency (ASHSA) has announced plans to validate and revalidate local vigilante operatives in various communities across the seventeen local government areas of the State.
The agency disclosed this on Thursday in a notice to all Presidents-General, community heads, and other relevant stakeholders, through a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Ezinwanne Alili.
According to the statement, the exercise is scheduled to hold from April 23 to May 8, 2026.
According to the government, the exercise is aimed at strengthening community security structures across the State, urging community leaders to receive the personnel in their localities and cooperate with organizers of the exercise.
“All relevant stakeholders are hereby enjoined to be prepared to receive personnel from the agency who will be visiting communities for this purpose.”
Reports said a former vigilante operative, Chinedu Anamelechi, last week, shot dead a woman and stabbed two others before committing suicide in Okporouzu Elu Elu, Amakama, Umuahia South LGA.
