Presidency: Ortom thumb-prints for Peter Obi, shows ballot paper as proof

Benue State governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom, earlier on Saturday, cast his ballot at hispolling unit in Tse-Ortom, Mzondu ward, Guma Local Government Area.

Ortom, who had endorsed the Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, actually cast his ballot for the former governor of Anambra State.

And to prove where he voted, Ortom, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), according to reports, displayed the presidential ballot paper before dropping it in the box provided.

Ortom is one of the G5 PDP governors at loggerheads with the national leadership of the party.

Ortom, who is contesting Benue North-West senatorial seat, had earlier said he was willing to sacrifice his senatorial bid for the victory of the LP candidate.

“For me, it’s not even that I’m contesting an election. Yes, the form was bought for me by the people of Benue State. I’ve gone round; they have accepted that they will vote me,” he had said.

“But if I’m to sacrifice my senatorial ambition for Peter Obi to win, so be it. I know that if [any group of] people are connected in this world, they are the Igbo. This is the opportunity you have to say that an Igbo man from the South-East is president,” Ortom had said.
