The Abia State Government has confirmed that at least 21 Turkish investors have registered to participate in the Abia–Türkiye Investment Summit and product exhibition scheduled for later this month in Umuahia.
Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Investment Promotion and Public–Private Partnerships, Chief Jerome Green-Amakwe, disclosed this at the weekend in Abuja, noting that the event will bring business leaders and investors from Türkiye and across Europe to explore emerging opportunities in Abia State.
“As we speak, we have over 21 Turkish investors already registered to be part of the summit, both as individuals and corporate entities. Nigerian investors are coming too,” he said.
Green-Amakwe stressed that Abia is fully prepared to host investors, citing a strong enabling environment created by the Otti administration.
According to him, security in the State is exceptional and provides confidence for investors.
“I can tell you that in the whole of the South-East, let me not say the entire Nigeria, there is no place as safe as Abia State. We are working with the Nigerian military, the police, and all security agencies, so Abia is very safe,” he stated.
The summit, organised by the Ministry of Trade and Commerce, is themed “Bridging Continents, Unlocking Prosperity.”
Green-Amakwe said its central aim is to attract foreign and domestic investment into Abia and Nigeria as a whole.
“Through this partnership with Türkiye, we believe many companies will establish operations in Nigeria,” he added.
Former Senator representing Abia Central, Darlington Nwokocha, also assured prospective investors of a secure and profitable business environment.
He highlighted Abia’s strategic location and market access as major advantages.
“Abia is secure for investment; you are sure of your return on investment,” he said, adding that the summit will benefit not only the diaspora but also millions of Nigerians.
Zenith Bank’s General Manager and Zonal Head, Carl Akwarandu, expressed confidence in the State’s economic prospects, describing Abia as one of Nigeria’s most attractive investment destinations based on financial indicators. He said the bank is prepared to support investors with financial advisory services and funding, noting that the credibility of the State government gives added assurance.
“Abia is open for business. We have the government’s personal guarantee that whatever they promise investors, they will deliver. So your investment is safe,” Akwarandu said.
He said Zenith Bank would provide financial advisory services as well as funding to ensure investors have a sustainable return on investment.
