Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has called on South-East leaders to end opposition politics and strengthen the region’s relationship with the Federal government ahead of the 2027 elections.
Soludo made the appeal on Sunday during a political stakeholders’ meeting in Awka, which was attended by APGA, APC, PDP and Accord Party representatives.
He described the emerging alliance of political parties backing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election as a major political shift, urging members to mobilise support for the President through grassroots campaigns.
The governor argued that Tinubu’s 5,000 votes in Anambra during the 2023 presidential election helped to attract federal projects to the State and the wider South-East.
He maintained that a greater electoral support would bring more benefits to the region.
Soludo also acknowledged the Federal government’s efforts to address economic challenges, particularly foreign exchange and fiscal stability, but said more work is needed.
He directed coalition members to strengthen their mobilisation structures and adopt door-to-door campaigns, warning them against being distracted by opposition attacks on social media.
Earlier, APGA National Chairman, Sly Ezeokenwa, described the alliance as unprecedented and pledged the party’s support for Soludo’s political direction.
Anambra APC Chairman, Emma Anosike, also welcomed the realignment, urging political parties to work together to advance the State’s interests.
