- To face Wike’s ally Chinda at primary
Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has been screened and cleared by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the party’s governorship primary scheduled for May 21.
Fubara appeared before the APC screening committee at the Plateau Governors’ Lodge, where he was one of 17 sitting governors whose credentials were verified.
His clearance sets up a high-stakes contest in Rivers APC, as FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has vowed to block Fubara’s re-election bid.
Fubara is expected to face Wike loyalist, Kingsley Chinda, for the ticket.
