2027: Outrage as Tinubu’s campaign billboard emerges despite soaring fuel price, biting hunger

A large billboard of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), particularly along the bustling Area 1 sector, has surfaced on social media.

The giant billboard, which features images of President Tinubu and his wife Remi, carries the caption “Grassroots support for Tinubu 2027, the 1019 initiative.”

The preemptive show of support by grassroots comes despite the recent adjustment in petrol pump price at filling stations across the country by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), widespread poverty, economic hardship, protest, high cost of food commodities amongst others.

Nigerians on social media have expressed mixed reactions, with some viewing it as an early strategic move, while others express concern over its timing, as many term it wrong, particularly with the woes buffeting the citizens

Tunde Ribu Musa wrote: We don’t need such billboard in any part of Nigeria. Tinubu has disappointed Nigerians; even we the Yoruba are crying bitterly. Pull down any board with Tinubu picture.”

“Tinubu = fake degree, fake……’’ another user, Metro -RSA wrote

Noscratch 411 wrote; Pray to… this remaining three years first.”

Onkook Hwang wrote: My prayer is let dollar hit N5,000 and fuel N3,000 so Nigerians will have sense.

Oyedepo Toheeb wrote: “We never survive 1st tenure Una don d talk about 2nd tenure.”

Kunle Jaja wrote: “Nigerians are hungry and all this government is concerned about is 2027 elections.”

The Presidency was yet to make any comments at the time of filing this report
