2026 UTME: JAMB releases 279 withheld results of candidates after probe

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of 279 candidates earlier withheld for further investigation over suspected examination malpractice in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The Board disclosed this in a statement on Thursday by its Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, noting that the newly released results are in addition to those previously made public.

According to JAMB, the decision followed the conclusion of investigations into cases flagged during and after the examination process.

Benjamin explained that while some candidates were cleared after no evidence of wrongdoing was established, the results of candidates found culpable of examination malpractice have been cancelled.

He stated that some results remain under review, particularly those from centres where its live monitoring teams observed suspicious activities or where adverse reports were received during the conduct of the examination.

The Board emphasised that investigations are still ongoing and warned that any candidate found guilty after the review process would have their results cancelled in line with its examination regulations.

“While some results have been outrightly cancelled where evidence of malpractice was established, others have been released where the Board found no prima facie case against the affected candidates,” the statement said.

The examination body advised candidates whose results are still pending to check their status through its official result-checking channels.

Candidates are expected to send “UTMERESULT” to either 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration to confirm whether their results have been released.

JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity and credibility of the UTME examination process through strict monitoring and investigation mechanisms.
