2026 UTME: Imo CP assures adequate security at exam centres

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Imo State Command, Audu Garba Bosso, has assured candidates, examination officials and the general public of adequate security arrangements across all accredited examination centres in Imo State.

This is to ensure a safe, peaceful and hitch-free conduct of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), scheduled to take place from April 16 to April 25, 2026.

In a statement issued in Owerri on Friday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye stated that, in line with this assurance, the CP, during a strategic security meeting held at the Command Headquarters, directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to immediately identify all JAMB offices and accredited examination centres within their areas of responsibility and ensure the deployment of adequate personnel and operational assets for effective security coverage before, during and after the examination period.

The CP further directed the intensification of visibility policing across the state, including sustained patrols and surveillance around examination centres. The aim is to deter criminal elements and ensure a swift response to any security threats. He warned that any officer found wanting in the discharge of assigned duties will face appropriate disciplinary action.

He said that personnel of the State Intelligence Department (SID) have also been strategically deployed to provide intelligence support and strengthen operational readiness across all examination locations.

While wishing all candidates success in their examinations, the CP cautioned against involvement in examination malpractice or any form of disorderly conduct.

He warned offenders of arrest and prosecution in accordance with extant laws.

The CP reiterated his commitment to sustaining improved peace and security across the state, while calling on the public to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies throughout the examination period.

CP Bosso made these remarks during a meeting with officers held at the Imo State Police Command in Owerri.
