2019: Otti emerges APGA’s governorship candidate in Abia

The former Group Managing Director of Diamond Bank, Dr. Alex Otti, has emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to contest the 2019 election in Abia State.

The primary election was held Thursday at the state secretariat of the party in Umuahia,

Declaring the results of the election after collation, the chairman of Electoral Committee and National Welfare Secretary, Barrister (Mrs.) Carol Okoroafor, announced that Otti scored 574 votes to emerge the candidate of APGA.

Barrister Okoroafor said, “610 delegates participated in the APGA governorship primary election and all these delegates cast their votes. Unfortunately, we have total number of 36 void votes”.

According to her,“Dr. Alex Otti had a total number of 574 votes, and these are all valid votes cast. And so, by the power conferred on me by the National Working Committee that I represent, I declare Dr. Alex Otti as the winner of the governorship primary election.”

Otti, in his post-election speech, commended the delegates for the confidence reposed in him to fly the party’s flag in the 2019 general election.

He urged his teeming supporters to remain steadfast, saying the primary election is the first hurdle towards winning the governorship election in 2019.

In reaction to Otti’s victory, the leadership of the Alex Otti Support Group (AOSG) says Abia State is on the path to being rescued from the grip of those that have long held it down.

The group believes that Abia electorate are now more discerning, adding that they will vote Alex Otti because they know he is on a rescue mission.
