In furtherance of its commitment to invest in youth for economic growth, the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Konga Group on e-Commerce Technology.
The MoU is intended to boost Federal government’s efforts in building the entrepreneurial capacity of the youth for self reliance and employability.
The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, disclosed this in Abuja during the signing of the MoU between the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and Konga Group, on e-COMMERCE technology.
While acknowledging the importance of the signing of MoU to achieve the goals of national aspirations for growth and economic development, Mr. Dare stated that the agreement would strengthen and support Federal government’s deliberate policy of engaging the youth through the framework of small and medium enterprises, towards ensuring solution to the burden of youth unemployment to make them entrepreneurs.
The minister said: ”No nation solves unemployment without leading on entrepreneurship; this MoU will open another window through which the youth can explore for sustainability.”
Earlier in his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Nebeolisa Anako, thanked the Konga Group for synergising and identifying with the FMYSD policy towards making the youth productive and self reliant.
Giving an insight on the MOU, the President of the Konga Group, Mr. Leo Stan Ekeh, said the MoU will change the narrative by providing the youths the platform to take a bold step for self development.
Ekeh explained that a minimum of 500, 000 youths will benefit from Digital Technology through wealth creation in e-commerce.
