The police in Ondo State have confirmed the death of an 86-year-old woman after being set ablaze by her daughter in Ondo city.
Popularly called Iya Biodun, the octogenarian reportedly died at the trauma centre of the School of Medical Sciences Ondo, where she was rushed for treatment.
The suspect, Abiodun, 45, said she took the step after a pastor told her that her old mother was responsible for her life’s predicament.
The incident occurred at Surulere, opposite the Anglican Cathedral Church in Ondo West Local Government Area.
The spokesperson of the police command, Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
