US-based groups gift FESTAC police station surveillance tower

The National Association of Seadogs (NAS) chapters in Chicago, United States, and FESTAC Region have donated a surveillance tower to the ‘Area E’ Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in FESTAC Town, Lagos, to enhance security monitoring and protection of lives and property.

Speaking at the commissioning of the project at the weekend, NAS Capon Worldwide, Dr. Joseph Oteri, said surveillance systems were critical to the efficiency and effectiveness of security agencies. He praised the project sponsors, urged other units to do more, and commended the police for their steadfastness despite operational challenges.

Oteri noted that police officers across the world were better treated and equipped, adding that their counterparts in Nigeria were doing a “herculean job”. He urged them not to relent in their service, saying desired changes were already taking place in the defence sector and would soon extend to the police.

Divisional Police Officer, Bakare Ibrahim, thanked NAS for the project, saying it would improve security coordination at the headquarters.

Head of Saratoga X Chapter, Mr. Emeka Achonu, said the initiative was part of the group’s efforts “to promote human dignity, and entrench a just and egalitarian society for all” by partnering public institutions to make them stronger and more efficient.

Also speaking, Mr. Moses Iyoha of the Chicago NAS chapter said his unit joined the project due to concerns about insecurity in the country and the need to improve the situation.

He pledged continued collaboration with other units on projects beneficial to Nigerian society.
Chairman of the ‘Area E’ Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Mr. Osita Ogbaji, thanked the Seadogs for the gesture, explaining that the project followed a needs assessment and reflected unity in diversity.
