* PENGASSAN accuses FG of draconian action
Civil servants without proof of COVID-19 vaccination and negative PCR tests were, on Wednesday, denied access into the Federal Secretariat, Abuja.
The Federal Government had directed all civil servants to take the COVID-19 jab, warning that those who fail to do so would not be allowed into public offices from December 1.
But the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria has asked the government to extend the deadline to March next year.
Meanwhile, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has described as draconian the directive for civil servants to take the COVID-19 jab before December 1, failing which they will not be allowed into their offices.
The oil workers’ union requested that the undemocratic and anti-masses directive that infringes on the right of the citizens be stopped and withdrawn with immediate effect.
The association said it had earlier admonished providers of labour to sensitise and advocate for its employees on the advantages of taking COVID-19 vaccines and not to issue threats to the workforce.
