There is yet uncertainty over the alleged postponement of Saturday’s governorship and State Assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Although there has not been any official statement announcing the postponement, reports, however, quoted some unnamed officials of the Commission as confirming the postponement of the elections slated for March 11, 2023.
It was learnt the decision to postpone the elections arose from the inability of the Commission to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) on time in readiness for Saturday due to an initial order by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
The tribunal, however, ruled on Wednesday that the Commission can reconfigure the machines for the governorship election and State Assembly elections.
