Two Nigerian ladies nabbed for trafficking teenage girl to Ghana

Two women identified as Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday have been arrested at Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State, for allegedly trafficking a 16-year-old girl to Ghana.

Spokesperson for Anambra Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement in Awka.

He said the two women were arrested over the case of a missing 16-year-old girl, Miss Oluebube Chukwuma, in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo LGA.

“Operatives of the Anambra Police Command attached to Ozubulu Division, acting on a technology-driven information on the evening of January 26 arrested two female suspects, Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday.

“They were arrested over a reported case of a missing 16-year-old girl, Miss Oluebube Chukwuma in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo LGA of the state,” he said.

Ikenga said that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to being involved in the disappearance of the minor and disclosed that the victim is currently in Ghana.

He said that following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, directed the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka.

The police spokesman said that Orutugu ordered the police operatives to investigate the relocation of the girl to Ghana and identify all those involved for possible arrest.
