President Bola Tinubu has appointed fresh members to the governing councils of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) Awka.
A statement issued by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga on Tuesday said this follows the February dissolution of the University of Abuja’s Governing Council and the removal of its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aisha Maikudi, amid questions regarding her eligibility.
The newly appointed governing council members for the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) include:
Professor Rosemary Iriowen Egonmwan (South South)
Dr Adedeji Adefuye (South West)
Professor Sarki Abba Abdulkadir (North West)
Professor Aminu Mohammed Dukku (North East).
Similarly, President Tinubu filled vacancies in the governing councils of UNN and NAU.
For the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), the new appointees are:
Rt. Hon. Barrister Ogbonna Eugene Odo (South East)
Muhammad Inuwa Tahir, mni (North West)
At Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), the newly appointed council members include:
Dr Nkem Okeke (South East)
Ofoke Chukwuma Charles Ugbala (South East)
Dame Amina Patrick Yakowa (North West)
Nojeeb Oriola Agunbiade (South West)
These appointments mark a significant step in strengthening governance and oversight within these key federal institutions.
