There is heightened tension in and around town after a condemned inmate escaped from the Maximum Security Custodial Centre where he was being held.
Abba Hassan, who hails from Maiduguri, Borno State, reportedly escaped from the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Potiskum, Yobe State, in the early hours of Tuesday, the Yobe State Police Command said in a statement.
Its spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, appealed for vigilance on the part of the public, security agencies, transport operators, community leaders, and vigilante groups within Yobe State and neighbouring States.
It urged them to come forward with information that could lead to the re-arrest of the condemned inmate, using the emergency number – 08038452982.
“I want to use this opportunity to inform you that, so not attempt to confront or apprehend him on your own.”
