A Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Mapo in Ibadan, on Thursday, sentenced an 18-year-old scavenger, Ibrahim Khalid, to three months imprisonment for stealing a cooking pot.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Victoria Olori-Oke, stated that she convicted Khalid for pleading guilty to the crime.

“Consequent upon Khalid’s guilty plea, he is sentenced to three months imprisonment with hard labour,” Olori-Oke said.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Oluseye Akinola, told the court that the convict committed the crime on October 1, 2025, about 1.00 pm at Elere-Odo Oba area of Boluwaji, Ibadan.

Akinola said that Khalid broke into the home of one Saudatu Safiu to steal the big aluminum pot valued at N45,000.

He said the offence contravened the provision of Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. ii, Law of Oyo State 2000.

In a separate development, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Police Command in Lagos State says it has detained two suspects for allegedly stealing a Toyota Avensis in Mushin-Oshodi.

The squad said this in a post shared on its X handle @rrsLagos767 on Thursday.

It stated that the suspects were apprehended about 11:35 pm on September 29, 2025, during a routine patrol by RRS operatives.

The squad said preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects, a security guard in the area, had earlier assisted the vehicle owner in pushing the faulty car to a nearby spot close to his duty post.

“The owner, whose residence is located two blocks away, left the vehicle there for the night.

“Shortly after the owner departed, the suspects, accompanied by another suspect now at large, returned to the scene to steal the car.

“The suspects conspired to sell the faulty vehicle to another suspect,” it stated.

It added that the squad operatives acting on credible intelligence swiftly apprehended the suspects while the third suspect escaped before the operatives could reach him.

According to the police, the recovered vehicle has been returned to the owner.
