Stella Oduah dumps PDP, joins APGA

The Senator representing Anambra North in the National Assembly, Mrs. Stella Oduah, has officially joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Oduah was the Minister for Aviation under President Goodluck Jonathan and joined the Senate in 2015 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

She arrived APGA National Secretariat in Abuja, Wednesday afternoon, in company of her aides and supporters.

The lawmaker was received by the APGA NEC members led by the National Chairman, Victor Oye, National Secretary, Mr. Labaran Maku, former National Chairman and the Senator representing Anambra Central, Chief Victor Umeh, among other party hierarchs.

Other dignitaries at the event included Hon. Ben Nwankwo, Hon. Onyewife, Hon. Dozie Nwankwo, Hon. Anayo Nebe, all APGA members in the House of Representatives

Also present were Dr Alex Otti, Anambra State APGA chairman, Chief Nobert Obi, Ifeanyi Uba, and a number of Anambra State Executive Council members who represented Governor Willie Obiano.

Senator Oduah will in a few days formally communicate her defection to her colleagues in the red chamber.

Meanwhile, Oye has told those hoping to vie for elective positions in the 2019 general election on the platform of the party to get ready to contest for the respective tickets.

Though Oye said he was not aware if Bianca Ojukwu was ready for the contest, he however stated that she and every other member of the party who wish to vie for election on the platform of the party must be ready to contest for tickets in a fair primary election.

There had been speculations that some influential members of the party would be handed tickets without contest, but Oye debunked it.

He said what has kept the party strong is the transparency it exhibits internally, adding that the party is not ready to destroy such legacy because of a few individuals.

“I do not know if Ojukwu’s wife is running for Senate as you said; if she is interested, it is her right, but she must participate in the primary election.

“As for the insinuation that I favour Ukachukwu for the Senate ticket of Anambra South and the governor (Chief Willie Obiano) favours Bianca while the former national chairman (Umeh) favours Ifeanyi Ubah, I can tell you that there is nothing like that.

“Ukachukwu does not even know my house; he has never sent anyone to meet me about that. I have no favoured person among the three. They are all my friends,” Oye said.

Oye also debunked the allegations that there is a battle of supremacy in the
