Sheikh Gumi’s son Abdulrahaman graduates from NDA

Abdulrahaman Ahmad, the son of controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Abubakar Gumi, has graduated from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.

Former Senator Shehu Sani, via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter, made the announcement in a post on Sunday.

He shared a photograph of Gumi and his son with the caption: Sheikh Gumi’s son Abdulrahaman Ahmad graduated from the Nigerian Defence Academy. Congratulations and wishing him all the best in the service to our country.”

The official graduation ceremony for the cadets is set to take place on Saturday, September 27. However, the photograph circulating on social media was actually taken during a pre-graduation event.

Sheikh Gumi, a former captain in the Nigerian Army, has recently emerged as a strong advocate for dialogue with bandits.

He has consistently urged the government to approach armed groups using the same reintegration strategy that was previously employed for Niger Delta militants.
