Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc – one of Nigeria’s top oil and gas firms – has emphasized that none of its staff was a victim in the explosion that occurred at the Benin River Valve on OML 40 in Delta State.
The blast at the oil exploration OML 40 resulted in the death of seven oil workers, but fortunately no employee of Seplat was invloved.
The OML 40 station at Gbetiokun is being operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), on behalf of the NPDC/Elcrest Joint Venture.
The incident, according to industry operators, occurred on Tuesday in the course of installing a ladder on a platform (Benin River Valve Station) for access during discharging of production.
The NNPC Group Managing Director, Mallam Mele Kyari, has since commiserated with the families of the bereaved, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of their loved ones.
