Sea pirates in military camouflage abduct boat operator, 13 passengers in Rivers

Suspected sea pirates, on Tuesday, abducted a boat operator and 13 passengers along Isaka River in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Wednesday.

Makama stated that intelligence sources informed him that the attack occurred when a passenger speed boat, Blessing and Happy Marine, operated by Benjamin Alabotubo, was en route Bille town from Port Harcourt (PH).

According to the report, the assailants, dressed in military uniforms, stormed the vessel, abducting all thirteen passengers on board, as well as the boat operator, and took them to an unknown destination.

Makama added that Nigerian troops were mobilized to the scene, while efforts have been intensified to rescue the victims, recover the boat, and apprehend the perpetrators.
