Retired generals can’t stop Buhari, Oshiomhole boasts

The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has accused some retired generals and former heads of state of opposing President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid.

He, however, said that even though they had their way in the past, that that will not be repeated this time, because the future of Nigeria is not in their hands but in the hands of the populace.

He stated this at the Minna International Fair ground, Niger State, where APC on Saturday held its Presidential Campaign.

“Many of the retired generals are against President Buhari; that he will not rule for eight years while they did more than eight years.

“I remember that they did it in the past but this time, the plan will not work. The future of Nigeria is not in the hands of retired generals or former heads of state; it is in the hands of the people.”

Oshiomhole, at the rally, attacked the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He said that while Atiku served as vice president to Obasanjo between 1999 to 2007, the duo did not do well.

“If Atiku had seen the crowd in Kaduna and Bauchi states that welcomed us, he would prefer to remain in the United States of America,” he said.

He went further to suggest that Atiku was working with Obasanjo to rig the elections because “Everywhere PDP goes, it says the elections will be rigged. We need to play the videos of where Obasanjo and Atiku said the election must be won by the PDP.”

According to Oshiomhole, the ruling party has no reason to rig election because APC is a party that is committed to one man one vote.

Buhari during the rally told Niger State people to vote for him and other candidates of the APC, assuring his determination to complete all the projects across the state.
