Protest, on Tuesday, broke out around the Eleganza Plaza, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway following the crushing of two motorcyclists by a truck.
Eyewitnesses said the truck laden with sand killed the cyclists who were riding at top speed against traffic around the Lekki Conservative area, an incident that infuriated other commercial bike riders, resulting in a protest.
Report says in no time, hoodlums hijacked the protest, vandalised and torched the truck.
The protesters reportedly lit bonfires on the expressway, which caused traffic jam that extended up to Sangotedo.
Another account of the incident said those killed were a commercial bike rider and his passenger, adding that the truck crushed them after another vehicle knocked them down.
A detachment of policemen from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Area J Command and Taskforce were deployed to the scene, and arrests were made and several bikes impounded.
The police spokesman, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said normalcy has since been restored in the area and situation brought under control.
