Protest erupts in Asaba after police allegedly killed young man over N100 bribe

A spontaneous protest, on Wednesday, erupted in Asaba, Delta State capital, following the reported killing of a young man (names withheld) allegedly by a policeman for refusing to pay a N100 bribe.

Reports said angry youths, carrying placards, blocked major roads in the State capital as a result of the killing.

They carried the corpse of the young man, who was reportedly killed along the Asaba-Ugbolu road, in protest to the premises of the police headquarters in Asaba.

The protest went on simultaneously along Nnebisi and Okpanam roads, which later spread to other locations of the State capital.

The police spokesman in the State could not be reached immediately for an official reaction to the development.
