Polls: Atiku clinches Akwa Ibom, Tinubu finishes second, Obi third

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has won the national election in Akwa Ibom State.

The former Vice President secured 214,012 votes to defeat Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 160,620 votes.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) scored 132,683 votes.

The State Collation Officer, Prof Emmanuel Adigio, made the announcement on Monday afternoon.

Adigio is the Vice Chancellor of Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State.

Atiku’s victory represents a big win for Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel, who doubles as Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

Akwa Ibom is the first South-South State won by the PDP in the 2023 presidential elections.
