Police detain 4 officers for arresting suspect with excessive force

The Adamawa State Police Command has detained four police officers over alleged indiscipline and breach of standard operational procedure.

Spokesperson of the Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Nguroje said the police officers used excessive force and shoot in the air to effect arrest of a suspect.

Nguroje disclosed that the incident occurred at Sabon Gari quarters in Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State on October 14.

He quoted the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, as frowning at the unprofessional conduct displayed by the police officers.

Morris urged members of the public to remain calm, saying the law will definitely take its course.

The CP directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the IGP’s X Squad to conduct a thorough and diligent investigation on the matter.
