Police confirm abduction of teachers, students at Edo technology institute

An unspecified number of teachers and students of the National Institute of Construction Technology, Uromi, Edo State, have been reportedly kidnapped by gunmen in a night raid.

The gunmen were said to have stormed the institute on Wednesday night, during which they abducted the victims.

The development has reportedly heightened tension in the locality.

As of the time of filing this report, parents of the kidnapped victims were said to have converged on the school premises.

The new spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Bello Kontongs, confirmed the report.

He, however, did not give details of the incident.

“I also heard about the incident yesterday night. There are no details yet,” he reportedly said.

“I am waiting for the officer-in-charge of anti-kidnapping and be assured that as soon as we get details, we will let you know,” he concluded.
