Police arrest more suspects over murder of SuperTV CEO

The police in Lagos have arrested more suspects in connection with the murder of SuperTV chief executive, Mr. Usifo Ataga.

The Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, disclosed this on Wednesday, during a briefing and parade of over 1,000 suspects at the Command headquarters in Ikeja.

Although he did not give details of the number of suspects arrested and their connection to the murder, Odumosu assured the case is progressing, vowing that the police would not compromise on it.

He sounded a note of warning, that indeed, the prime suspect, Chidinma Ojokwu remains a suspect with her rights guaranteed under the constitution. Odumosu dismissed any insinuation that the police are attempting to give her a leeway to evade justice.

Odumosu said: “We have established a case of conspiracy in the murder and we have arrested more suspects.”

Ataga, 50, was killed on June 15 at a shortlet apartment where he was spending weekend with his lover, Ojokwu.

Meanwhile, Chidinma Ojokwu, who had earlier confessed to stabbing Ataga to death, later recanted her statement, claiming she returned from an errand to find the SuperTV boss lying in a pool of his blood.
