Police arrest housemaid who killed Lucky Igbinedion’s mother

The police have finally nabbed Miss Dominion Okoro, the runaway housemaid that allegedly killed Madam Maria Igbinedion, mother of the former governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion.

At the Edo State Police headquarters in Benin on Tuesday, Dominion, 25, made a graphic confession of how she killed the 85-year-old woman.

She confessed that she hit a stool on the octogenarian’s head in order to steal from her.

Dominion said she sneaked into her room and made an attempt to steal her gold necklaces and a wristwatch.

She said when she saw that the old woman saw her while trying to steal the items and wanted to raise an alarm, she quickly hit her head with a stool and she died immediately.

The suspected killer said she hurriedly packed her belongings and ran to stay with her elder sister in Cross River State, when she discovered that the woman had died.

“I am here because I killed somebody. Nothing happened between us. My Madam and I never had any quarrel. I have been with my Madam for one year and three months before this thing happened,” she said.

She continued: “I wanted to take her money from her drawer. It is only N100, 000 that I found in the drawer.

“I took her gold necklace and wristwatch and ran to stay with my elder sister in Cross River.”

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Philip Ogbadu, disclosed that over 20 persons were arrested by the police in a determined effort at getting the prime suspect.
