The police in Enugu State have arrested a couple and a nurse for allegedly selling a one-day-old baby girl.
The suspects, identified as Godwin Enyikpo, 30, and his wife Ndidi, 25, residents of Emene, were apprehended by detectives from the Emene Division following credible intelligence.
Also arrested was a nurse, Ijeoma Oma, 32, who reportedly facilitated the sale of the infant about three weeks ago.
Police sources confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track other accomplices and rescue the baby.
The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure all individuals linked to the crime are brought to justice.
