Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is leaving no stone unturned to ensure victory for its candidate in the December 2 Eket local government poll.
It’s candidate, Mr Frank Archibong, has been given a head-start by inaugurating a crack team of eminent indigenes of the area into various campaign committees.
The state treasurer of the party and secretary of the mobilization committee in Eket, Barr. Akpadia Ebitu, who stood in for the Chairman Mr. David Lawrence, charged the members to work assiduously for the all-round success of the party.
Barr Ebitu alongside the Eket chapter chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Mbong, explained that following the state-wide flag off of campaigns, Governor Udom Emmanuel deemed it necessary for the committees to be constituted at the local government level for proper coordination and maximum results, adding that no other party has ever won election in Eket since the advent of the current dispensation.
In his remarks, the political leader of Eket Senatorial District, Chief Nduese Essien said that the opposition APC has made it clear that their interest is in the 2019 governorship election alone, which is why they have displayed apathy in the local government election campaigns.
Chief Essien called on all party supporters to work hard to ensure victory, adding that the overwhelming victory will also be a template for the 2019 general elections in the state.
He commended all the aspirants who participated at the party nominations for their spirit of sportsmanship, and called on all of them to join hands to deliver the PDP flag bearer, Hon. Frank Archibong.
Also speaking, the Transition Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Mrs. Abigail Edohoeket said that Eket people are more united and will work together to deliver Frank Archibong as the elected Chairman of Eket come December 2, 2017.
A former PDP governorship aspirant and chieftain of the party, Dr. Sam Udonsak said that PDP is a party to beat at the coming local government election and expressed satisfaction with the level of maturity exercised by other aspirants during the party primaries. He noted that with such gesture, victory is certain but advised the campaign team not to underrate the opposition, despite their poor show of interest.
On his part, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dominic Ukpong urged Eket people to team up to ensure that developmental programmes are brought to the area. He encouraged Eket people to continue to support Governor Udom Emmanuel administration as a government that has the love of the people at heart and is ready to change the narratives.
The Chairman of the Finance sub Committee, Dr. Emmanuel Ekott who is also the founder of Heritage Polytechnic thanked the leaders of the party for the confidence reposed in them, and promised to work tirelessly to ensure that the Committee succeed in its mandate.
The PDP Chairmanship Candidate in the area Mr. Frank Archibong thanked Eket people and party stakeholders for the mandate they gave to him to fly the party’s ticket at the elections.
He lauded his co-contenders for their spirit of sportsmanship and urged them to join him with their lofty ideas towards building a better Eket local government.
He also commended the calibre of people selected to serve in the Campaign Committee, expressing confidence that they are the people that win elections in Eket local government area.
Six sub committees were inaugurated.
The Finance Committee has Dr Emmanuel Ekott as Chairman, Obong Kingsley Etop Mbre-Alternate Chairman and Hon.(Mrs)Abigail Edohoeket as Secretary; to head the Welfare/Logistics Committee is Pastor Godwin David with Pastor Aniedi Usoro-Secretary.
The Media/ Publicity Committee has Chief Usoro I.Usoro at the helms of affairs with Essien Ekefre Ndueso as Secretary.
Others include Security Committee headed by Group Captain Moses Eno (Rtd.)- Chairman and Hon. Udia Duff- Secretary, Contact Committee (Operations ) has Chief A. S. Idim- Chairman while his secretary is Mr. Tommy Enodien; and finally the Reconciliation Committee with Rev. Daniel Akwatang- Chairman, Chief Christopher. H. Isong- Alternate Chairman and Elder Nse Atang- Secretary
