A 61-year-old pastor, Famakinwa Ajayi, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl, Oluwatosin (surname withheld).
The cleric was alleged to have had carnal knowledge of the teenager at his residence in Ayede Ogbese, a suburb of Akure, the State capital.
The suspect, while being paraded at the police headquarters in Akure, reportedly confessed to the crime.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmilayo Odunlami, said the girl reported the incident to the police.
According to the PPRO, the rape resulted in pregnancy.
“The victim said the suspect deflowered her in his house, after which he took her to a market square at night where he further had sex with her under the pretence of spiritual deliverance.
The PPRO assured that the suspect would soon be charged to court for prosecution.
