The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has commiserated with the government and people of Bayelsa State over the death of Madam Goldcoast Dickson, mother of Governor Seriake Dickson.
Madam Dickson reportedly died at the University of Texas MD, Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, USA. She was 72 years old.
PANDEF, in a statement by its National Secretary, Dr. Alfred Mulade, described the late Madam Dickson as an epitome of a virtuous woman, philanthropist, a devoted Christian, lover of peace and humanity. The statement read in part: “PANDEF is conscious of the enormity of impact and influence the departed mother had on our dear governor, Dickson, in demonstrating the genuine love and the drive to make quality of life more meaningful and purposeful for the people who must remain free of oppression, intimidation, poverty and deprivation.
“The combined effect of these is what our dear governor has demonstrated in his relentless advocacy for peace, prosperity and sustainable development of the Nigerian Delta region, and indeed, our dear nation, Nigeria, within the context of equity and justice, on the platform of a restructured federation.
“While we pray for the repose of the soul of the departed Madam Dickson in the Lord, PANDEF urges the restoration governor, Mr. Dickson, to take solace in the fact that, Mama lived a remarkable life which will continue to inspire humanity, and that the good Lord will continue to give the family and all that are left behind, the fortitude to bear this loss.”
