Outrage as Zamfara Gov allegedly declares N9tr assets in cash, investments

Not a few Nigerians are outraged over the largely unverified report that the newly inaugurated Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, made a declaration of N9 trillion  in cash, investment and property assets.

The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) had requested all the newly elected governors to submit their asset declaration before May 29, 2023.

A cross section of the citizens expressed surprise at the disclosure that Governor Dauda Lawal claimed he is worth N9trillion.

Bellow aer some of the reactions:

Abubakar Hamma Galafi:

I was shocked too. But I remember gold mining in the State. Zamfara has the largest Gold deposit in Africa.

Enitan Oyekanmi:

Where are the companies and tax certificate for the companies and where are they located?

King Marvel:

He is declaring future stolen asset. He won’t have over $12billion and dare go into politics. All lies.

Mgbojikwe:

He’s declaring what he plans to steal

Olakunle Don:

I did not get it; N9 trillion or billion. That is like Budget of Lagos for 6 years and Nigeria for 3years and that of Zamfara for almost 20 years. Where is DANGOTE self?

Dauda Lawal was an Executive Director in First Bank of Nigeria Plc. He also worked sometimes with the former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison Madueke.

Worthy of note, the richest person in Africa, Aliko Dangote is currently valued to worth $13.5 billion by the Forbes. The next to Aliko Dangote on the Forbes list is Johann Rupert and family who jointly worth $10.7 billion.

Converted to US Dollars, Dauda Lawal’s N9 trillion is equivalent to about $12 billion, that is supposedly second to Aliko Dangote and richer than Abdulsamad Rabiu who is currently worth $7.6 billion and Mike Adenuga who is currently valued to worth $6.3 billion dollars.
