A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has revealed that some people are already jittery following the entry of Peter Obi into the coalition.
Professor Festus Arunaye, who serves on Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration Committee of ADC, said this at stakeholders’ meeting where the 10-member Delta State committee on membership registration was inaugurated in Asaba, the State capital.
According to him, the presence of Obi has strengthened the party’s confidence nationwide as he has brought excellence, integrity, discipline, and strong economic values to the coalition.
“Peter Obi is a man of integrity. He is a man that knows the running of the economy that is above average. Therefore, such a personality joining the coalition has given us, (as a Mathematician, I don’t easily give people an A) A, excellent position.
“Some people are quaking now; they are sick now because Obi has joined us.
“They are using social media to castigate our members…. it’s not our members that are doing those things, they have paid social media influencers to harass our members,” Arunaye said.
On the defection of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar to the party, the ADC chieftain opined that the former vice president wants to right the wrongs of the past.
“Also, I will tell you that Atiku Abubakar wants to right the wrongs, if he had done any wrong while he was the Vice President. Atiku has not condemned any other aspirants coming together to form the coalition.
“Atiku believes that they will all go to the primary, which will be free, fair, and credible, and that any person who wins, the ADC will work for that person. That is the goal and mission of our great party,” he added.
Professor Arunaye said ADC is projecting at least 2.3 million members in the cause of its registration in Delta state, stating that everyone would be carried along.
Speaking on the registration and revalidation of members in the State, Prof. Arunaye declared that the era of party cards being hoarded or sold by money bags was over, adding that under the leadership of Senator David Mark, ADC has drawn a red line against corruption, exclusion, and money-bag politics.
