* Alleges unavailability of trumpeted CNG
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has urged Nigerians to rally against the latest increase in petrol prices.
This follows to announcement of new petrol prices on Wednesday by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.
The pump prices were increased from the initial price of N855 to N998 per litre in Lagos and N1,030 per litre in Abuja.
Speaking in Abuja at the unveiling of a book, ‘The Tripartite: Understanding the Interplay between Workers, Employers, and Government’, authored by Sharon Ijasan, NLC President Ajaero Ajaero, accused the government of embarking on unbridled price hikes and neglecting the revival of the ailing refineries.
He urged Nigerians to mobilise collectively against the hike
“Nigerians are expecting the labour movement to react to this hike. But, the issue at stake is more than labour movement. If we can get some naira or are unable to get it, only workers will benefit from that. What I think Nigerians should do is to mobilise and react as a collective”, he said.
Noting that the Congress has taken delivery of 14 CNG-powered vehicles, Ajaero decried the unavailability of CNG refilling stations across the country.
