The Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) has restated its commitment to addressing the remedial issues in the oil and gas sector.
These issues include metering and measurement infrastructure, crude and product losses, payment issues, Nigerian Petroleum Development Commission, divested assets, governance and regulatory issues.
NEITI challenged the civil society and the media to wake up to their responsibilities by helping to address the remedial issues in the oil and gas sector, saying it is not a challenge that should be left to NEITI alone.
Its Executive Secretary, Mr. Waziri Adio, said implementation of all the recommendations would serve the country and its citizens.
According to him, with more money coming from the sector, government will be able to attract more revenues and have more money to spend on infrastructure, which will eventually benefit businesses.
