A notorious bandit kingpin, who was arrested by Nigerian troops in Zamfara State, has confessed to killing over 20 people during his reign of terror.
In a video posted on X by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, the bandit who gave his name as Giwa, said he was trained by another notorious kingpin, Alhaji Shingi, who was killed early this year by Nigerian soldiers.
“This is the notorious bandit kingpin Giwa. He was known to be very ruthless and has committed too many atrocities in the North West of Zamfara state. He was trained by the Alhaji Shingi,” Makama wrote.
Giwa, who reportedly spoke in his native Hausa language, said his sponsors provided him with different makes of sophisticated weapons including AK 47 rifles with which he killed his victims.
Giwa, who later pleaded for pardon, requested to be taken to a correctional centre where he hopes to learn the Quran and become a better person.
