N585m fraud scandal: NANS passes vote of no confidence on Betta Edu

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has passed a vote of no confidence against the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu..

The action comes in light of allegations surrounding the transfer of N585 million into a private account.

NANS, an umbrella body representing Nigerian students, expressed concern over the alleged misappropriation of funds intended for poverty alleviation. It thus called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the matter.

Besides, NANS’ Vice-president, External Affairs, Comrd. Mohammed A. Tenimu, Justice (GCNS) urged President Tinubu to personally ensure the transparency of the investigation. They are demanding that anyone found guilty should face appropriate punishment so as to serve as a deterrent to others who may be tempted to engage in similar acts.

By the no-confidence vote on Edu, NANS has expressed its lack of faith in the ability of Dr. Betta Edu to effectively carry out her duties as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
