My ordeal in Chinese club – Brown Ideye

By Samuel Onyekwere
Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye, has cleared the air on his frustration at his Chinese club, Tianji Teda, which has seen him relegated to the reserve team.

In an interview monitored in Lagos, Ideye, explained that his problem started when he asked the coach to inform the team management about facilitating his family’s relocation to China and he promised to do something about it.

He explains more: “I told my coach to inform the team management to help me complete the travelling arrangements for my wife and kids so that they could join me in China. My family had already bought the ticket and was awaiting the visa. They became stranded at the airport because the club could not facilitate their travelling arrangement and so I was not able to concentrate because of this. I went to the coach and told him that I will not be comfortable playing the next match
while my family is still stranded. It was then he told me that it’s not the responsibility of the club to make travel arrangements for their player’s family, but he was going to do something about the situation.

However my coach had other plans, and before I knew what was happening they brought another player Achipong, to replace me.”

Asked if he was making effort to leave the club, Ideye said though the coach has promised to call back him to the first team come next season, however, he wants to go on a loan move to another Chinese club or Europe so as to boast his chances of making the world cup team next year.

The talented goal poacher stated his playing career with Bayelsa United, before moving to now defunct Ocean Boys. He also played for Swiss Super League club Neuchâtel Xamax, West Brom in England, Greek champions Olympiacos and thereafter to China in 2015.
