Minister condoles with families of slain NYSC members

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, has described the death of five NYSC members on Wednesday as a huge loss not only a loss to their families, but has robbed the country of prospective future leaders.

The minister expressed deep regret and sorrow over the untimely death of the prospective Corps members.

He said: “The entire country has been thrown into deep mourning over the untimely death of five NYSC members billed to serve the country. I received the news of their death with utmost dismay and a deep sense of loss. Their death has robbed Nigeria of future leaders that could have made impacts on the country’s social, economic growth. I sympathise with their families, friends, the Director-General, management and the entire NYSC family. I pray that God will console their families, colleagues, friends, and abate such tragedy in the future. May their souls rest in peace,” he concluded.

The minister also expressed his condolences to the Imo and Akwa Ibom State governments where the Corps members hailed from.

The five prospective Corps members lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident on July 28, 2021, along Abaji/Kwali expressway on their way to report to camp.
