Metuh arrives court on stretcher, case adjourned to March 15

The former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Olisa Metuh, on Monday, arrived the Federal High Court in Abuja, venue of his ongoing corruption trial on a stretcher after being taken down from an ambulance.

The court presided over by Justice Okon Abang had declined a request by Metuh’s lawyer for a long adjournment on account of his client’s ill health.

He had told the court that his client was at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Specialist Hospital for treatment on spinal cord complications.

But Justice Abang refused Metuh’s the application for a long adjournment and threatened to allow the application made by the prosecution for the revocation of his bail, if failed to appear in court on Monday.

However, on sighting the former PDP’s mouthpiece in court on a stretcher on Monday morning, the judge adjourned the matter to March 15.

“I have seen the condition that the first defendant is. Seeing the condition, I am inclined to adjourn this matter to allow the first defendant attend his trial,” the judge said.
