Liverpool on Tuesday, zoomed into the final of the Champions League after coming from two goals down to beat Villarreal 3-2 in the second leg of their semifinal tie.
Leading 2-0 from the first leg at Anfield, the Reds faced a strong challenge from their hosts on Tuesday night as they leveled 2-2 on aggregate by halftime.
But Liverpool fought back in the second half, scoring three goals to seal a 5-2 aggregate victory and reach the final of the competition.
Boulaye Dia scored Villarreal’s first after only three minutes, converting Etienne Capoue’s pass, before Francis Coquelin headed in a second from another Capoue cross.
Liverpool had to improve in the second half and Fabinho put them back in front on aggregate with a shot on 62 minutes.
Substitute Luis Diaz then restored Liverpool’s two-goal aggregate advantage with a header at the back post, before Sadio Mane scored the winner.
Villarreal ended the game with 10 men with Capoue sent off late on for two bookable offences.
The Jurgen Klopp side will play either Manchester City or Real Madrid at the Stade de France in Paris on Saturday, 28 May.
City lead Real 4-3 in their semifinal tie, and both sides will meet at the Bernabeu on Wednesday for the second leg.
