Two women have been confirmed dead in the FESTAC Town area of Lagos State following a lightning strike during the rainfall on Friday.
The police spokesman in the State, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed this through a post he shared on his Twitter handle – @benHundeyin, on Saturday.
According to him, the incident happened during the heavy rainfall the occurred on Friday.
“Somewhere on First Avenue, FESTAC, two women remained indoors during the downpour yesterday (Saturday).
“Lightning struck, electrocuting them instantly and causing a fire outbreak,” he said.
He added that the victims lived in a shanty built under high-voltage wires.
The PPRO sympathised with the deceased and prayed that their souls rest in peace.
