LG polls: Abia announces movement restrictions for persons, vehicles on Nov 2

Ahead of the November 2 local government elections, the Abia State Government has announced restriction of movement of persons and vehicles during the exercise.

According to the government, the restrictions will commence at midnight on Friday, November 1, and end at 4pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

The Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, announced the directive in Umuahia on Thursday.

“By this announcement, only those on essential services will be allowed movement upon the presentation of valid identification cards.

The government advised all residents of the State, including markets, motor parks and other business centres to adhere strictly to the restriction order, saying that “defaulters would have themselves to blame as security agents are well prepared to ensure the strict implementation of this order”.
