The Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has debunked speculations that the government plans to return the monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
LAWMA Managing Director/CEO, Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, stated this during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise, a breakfast show that aired on Saturday.
“It is not coming back for now,” he said when asked if the monthly sanitation that restricts movement is coming back.
Rather than the monthly sanitation, Gbadegesin said the government has introduced a weekly environmental sensitisation.
He said LAWMA is working closely with the officials of the State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources led by Dr Tokunbo Wahab as well as the Lagos Parks and Garden, Lagos Waste Water Management Office in that regard.
