A Port Harcourt-based lady simply identified as Marvelous has reportedly surrendered to the police in Rivers State after her lover allegedly died during their sex romp in the Diobu area of the Garden City.
The deceased – a barber – who was identified as Otubong, lost his life last Friday during the seaming romp with the lady.
Spokesperson for the Rivers Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed that the lady, who first fled after the barber died during their romp, later voluntarily surrendered herself to the police.
The Police spokesperson, however, did not give the full identity of the female suspect or when she turned herself in.
However, a source said the lady surrendered herself to the Police two days after the incident.
A source further said that two empty cans of energy drinks, and tablets suspected to be sex performance enhancers were recovered in the hotel room where the barber and the lady checked in.
Meanwhile, a human rights group – Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign – has urged the Police not to expose the lady to stigmatization.
Vice Chairman of the organization in Rivers State, Barr Afudoza Jennifer Stephens, reportedly said: “We demand that the Police should thoroughly investigate the case of the Barber who died after alleged sex romp with the lady as being speculated .
“We urged the Police to carry out their investigation without victimization of the lady, who will understand is now in the custody.
“You know she is an adult and there is no law in Rivers State that criminalizes an adult who engages in a relationship or love affair with a other adult.
“For the fact that the Barber who was the male lover of the lady died in an alleged Sex romp as being insinuated does not mean the lady should be stigmatized.
“Only discrete investigation will prove if she is culpable in the death of the Barber. We equally demand that she should be released immediately if investigation shows she is not culpable.”
